Gas Works Park is a wonderful subject for drawing. A day out in the Park, using all our senses. Light changes continuously. Catch it fast.

tone study/still life

Class has begun and after 3 weeks we are studying tone currently.  The class is talented and eager. Full range of darks to the other end of the spectrum to highlights are key to a successful tone study.

Sketches on site and those done away from the site may differ greatly.

 I hope to get back to the site and sketch in place and then compare the two views.

It is amazing how technology can enhance an image: color, intensity, detail and composition.

Sock monkeys have meaning in my life. I love to draw them as well. 

Soft tones with gentle strokes; appropriate to the nature of these creatures.

Sunny day today in Seattle, summer finally has arrived.

More watercolor evaluation:

Brush strokes are those best with intention, literally 'less (stroke) is more'.

The grapes in my backyard are starting to fruit;

the birds are pleased. 

More study required of these vines, more definition perhaps
